72·1 month agoI don’t have her passwords, she doesn’t have mine.
Having the means for each spouse to get the others passwords can be pretty essential when dealing with critical emergencies and death. It’s good to have some way for someone you trust to get your online accounts when you pass away so that everything can be concluded and canceled and sentimental content preservation and all that.
For my relationship the means to gain access to my password manager are available in the case of an emergency. Maybe shove the credentials in a bank security box and put access to it into your will if you don’t feel you can trust your partner with the knowledge while you are alive.
2·1 month agoRising above our limitations as a species is the field of religion. The current mainstream western religious meta is super toxic, but the entire point of dedicating ones life to meta-narratives is to transcend the limitations of our human instincts.
Just like, treat your meta-narrative with a healthy dose of skepticism or you fall right back into human nature. From my experience i feel confident in saying all meta narratives are fictions
As a software engineer who values humanity has done a good bit of work with “the cloud”, i think your dad has the right set of feelings towards the cloud. That fucking cloud can go get bent
31·1 month agoThere is no perfect candidate because both parties are actively fighting progressivism. What you do is hold your nose and vote for the one who won’t try to eradicate anyone they don’t like from the country and then show up to your local democratic party/club every meeting they have and be actively pissed off at the lack of progressivism. Bitching on the internet does nothing, trying to argue about the best candidate does even less.
Make it known what you want in your community and build a coalition in agreement
Even though i do get the privilege of being born into a lucky circumstances, i have to watch all of my peers in my age group suffer while i am somewhat compelled to spend all my time with folks in older generations because all of my fellow millennials are too busy being exploited or exhausted just to keep their head above water.
Will i be one of like a handful of millennials who fair a passable life? When i get to a possible retirement will i even have any peers to hang out with? Am i a shithead for not sacrificing enough of myself to make a better world? What could i even sacrifice to make a better world? after all there needs to be organizations to turn sacrifice into change, and all the organizations are run by boomers who are quite comfortable because millennials will barely even show up to community social groups, let alone commit to leadership let alone play the bullshit social games to fight for power and control.
What even is the point for me - an okay off millennial - to fight for the cause of the rest of us when everybody in our age bracket seems to be lining up to give the best excuse for giving up? If things are already this shit, then surely the odds are in y’alls’s favors to take a cause and go into the community and make a belligerent stand?
