If you are ever dissatisfied with the music industry’s proliferation of stupid and samey music, Bandcamp will surely have something for you.
Vupware@lemmy.zipto News@lemmy.world•Spotify boycott: Artists leave ‘garbage hole’ platform after CEO invests in AI weapons5·3 days agoYou don’t necessarily need to buy physical to own. Most of my music comes from Bandcamp in the form of FLAC and mp3, but I have CDs and vinyl as well.
Vupware@lemmy.zipto News@lemmy.world•Spotify boycott: Artists leave ‘garbage hole’ platform after CEO invests in AI weapons61·3 days agoYep, I’ve started buying all my media again, even music. Don’t want my copy of a movie to get censored, don’t want my music to get delisted.
The only exception is games. Damn you, steam, for being so awesome in every way except ownership.

I beat the drums and shouted the rallying cries. But she’s not what America needs. Her sparse discussions on policy and dismissal of the most vulnerable and impressionable voting demographics do not paint a rosy picture of what would happen should she be handed the keys in 2026.

Vupware@lemmy.zipto News@lemmy.world•Senate votes to kill entire public broadcasting budget in blow to NPR and PBS82·17 days agoPbs bye bye now. Me smarter now though. Me teacher reached me about god and told me that as long as I pray to my god I will be happy and that got tells us it’s okay because we are his chosen once and no one else matters and. We need to show them god too so we will make big holy weapons in factories when we grow up. Also I am so glad stients were deleted. Stients reached us false messages and that god was not real and stients caused people to live a part from god. I always sayed that oh wow it sounds good to be a part from god like god made the trees and the dogs but they told me it’s bad.

Caution and breadth of sources should be staples of any historical or contemporary investigation, but alas, the minds of my fellow citizens have been eroded; these practices cannot be assumed to be broadly adopted, and as such, when saying something positive about LLMs, we must provide ample disclaimers and remind the general populace of the dangers and harms these technologies expose us and our surroundings to.
Vupware@lemmy.zipto Technology@lemmy.world•Missouri AG: Any AI That Doesn’t Praise Donald Trump Might Be “Consumer Fraud” (No, Really)English31·22 days agoNo haha but I see your point.
It is important to use these tools with an abundance of caution, and those who cannot think critically should certainly stay away from them.
LLMs are unequivocally a net negative to humankind, but there are silver linings.
Vupware@lemmy.zipto Technology@lemmy.world•Missouri AG: Any AI That Doesn’t Praise Donald Trump Might Be “Consumer Fraud” (No, Really)English8·23 days agoCertainly! that’s why you use them to find sources. I don’t immediately trust anything an LLM spits out.
Vupware@lemmy.zipto Technology@lemmy.world•Missouri AG: Any AI That Doesn’t Praise Donald Trump Might Be “Consumer Fraud” (No, Really)English184·24 days agoDespite the problems with these LLMs, I have found them tremendously valuable when it comes to finding sources regarding historical events.
It’s much easier to find historical evidence that goes against the status quo with LLMs than it is with a conventional search engine. I suspect that this is an unintentional side effect of the technology; the fact that these LLMS are black boxes might have something to do with it.
