The scary part is I’ve seen a schism in the left on this. There have been times where people proclaiming rights for Gaza in the same breath compare Jews to Nazis even though the problem is with the state not the people. Everyone on the left agrees it’s a human rights issue for both sides but unfortunately some are picking sides.

Meanwhile the Jewish people are backed into a corner so things are going to get irrational from them as well. Although I am not Jewish myself I am very close to many and all of them are anxious wrecks over this. Every other faith has multiple nations which have their religion as a state religion but Jews have only one choice if that’s what they want. The ideal situation would have been surgical strikes against Hamas but Netanyahu gonna Netanyahoo.

The ideal situation really and truly would’ve been to never deprive Palestinians of their rights in the first place. This situation isn’t some byproduct of time and chance it was built this way. Palestine was colonized. They were forced out of their homes. And ever since their human rights have been increasingly infringed upon. Up to massacres. Where is the shock and outrage from western leaders? Where is the UN? Why is it when white people are unjustly murdered the entire world stops in its tracks and illuminates their monuments up with color coded flood lights, and when brown and black Muslims are murdered its a bullet point on a news broadcast? I’ve watched it happen year after year ever since I was a child. Every single time, brown and black people suffering unbelievable pain and torture and mass murder barely gets any acknowledgement from western democracies. But when it’s white people suffering cruel torture and mass murder its a cause for war. For invasion. For bombing.

The double standard is there, has always been there, and I genuinely think that the Israeli state is so brazen about committing genocide that those of us who care are tired of it. I’m done pretending like Muslim lives matter to Americans. That lie doesn’t work anymore. We know exactly how America views Muslims, and it couldn’t be any more plain than if they declared “war” on Palestinians and started bombing family homes and shelters themselves.

I also really dislike the way you’re framing the necessity of a state with state religion. That’s a fucked up concept that in explicitly Muslim states is a huge problem. State religion should be condemned. But anyway, that exact framing is how Netanyahu justifies genociding and forced relocation of Palestinians. That they can’t be there and don’t belong there because Israel is a nations for Jewish people and Islam cannot exist there. Even though Palestinians were there already when the nation was founded.
