I have a 4c8t unraid server with a bunch of storage.
It runs docker with all the arrrr containers.

It has pihole, duckdns and plex. I run some auto backups too.

I also have a Ubuntu and windows VM but they’re mostly spun down due to lack of use.

The server is mostly idle, anything else I can use it for that’s useful to me?

Home Assistant might be worth a look. It’s good for home automation and monitoring tasks.

I can’t speak highly enough about Home Assistant. I’ve run it for a long long time and it just gets more and more polished.

Pihole is a big recommendation for me! It really changes the way you interact with the web. Home Assistant as well. If you’re at all interested in home automation it’s fantastic.

If you’ve got an interest in privacy I’d recommend playing around with hosting SearXNG. And a new service I’m playing with is Immich. Think Google Photos but locally hosted, free, and open source.

I would recommend Adguard instead of pihole. It’s a lot lighter, and being written in go its very efficient.

That’s fair. Pihole is not the most efficient service, but it’s crazy easy to set up and maintain. I’ve thought about doing something leaner but haven’t wanted to bother switching things out.
