It’s why for board gaming, nowadays we plan on this weird mix of snacks: Most is just bagged stuff so we can always not open bags, and the little fresh stuff that there is - usually one guy who loves to bake - is not done just for that evening, he makes a whole lot, brings some to board gaming and the rest goes to colleagues in the office.

And if we know before hand that nobody has eaten but we all want a major meal, we’ll order something and in turn plan for even less snacks.

I will add that while I don’t know OP’s friends that seems like a ridiculous amount of food for just 5 people, unless you know they’re skipping their main meal that day before. And you need to confirm that, something I learned with organizing board gaming. You can’t just assume people will be hungry/thirsty.

It sounds silly, because we have this assumption that we should “just have enough stuff” (and being hungry right now, the stuff in the OP pic looks yummy!), but we’re also not throwing a kid’s birthday party, we can just ask and collectively organize and plan.

Uh… what do you think we do when a client doesn’t pay us for a while? We yank their access. That’s how services work, you get a few warnings that you really need to pay or you’ll lose access and then, well, you lose access.

Yeah I was more comparing how they push things on you, too. They’re of course much nicer, in particular because you can just turn things off, which is how it ought to work. I don’t mind things being default-on, most users would otherwise never realize stuff even exists. But it really needs to be able to be disabled, like how DDG allows it. (But sadly not for their godawful Apple Maps)

Also, Apple Maps is totally fine, it’s not overloaded with ads like Google Maps is and it basically always finds the place I search for.

Okay this is the one thing I’d readily disagree on.

Beyond its absolutely inability to find non-US results (there’s a steak house next to me, I can enter that exact name including capitalization + the name of the city I live in, and it’ll instead find a different-named steak house in a US city names like my non-US one instead), not being able to click places on the map to select them is just laughable.

Nevermind how it’s navigation is ridiculous, at least over here. It just travels shortest path, no respect for traffic lights or anything.

It’s a very good showcase of how superior Google Maps actually is, as a maps application. And how much openstreetmap has left everything else in the dust, too.

I would quarantine that game in my review bucket based on it’s isolation of specific trigger words such as ‘COVID-19’. I’d rather talk about Winnie the Pooh, tbh.
