LemmySoloHer: Across the Fediverse
I can’t believe I never heard about this before. This is fascinating, thank you for sharing. I’m sure some movie producer is trying to get the rights to Ken Ono’s life story if someone hasn’t already!
The person reacting to your comment calling them a pigeon:
Ah now I see it, thank you!
I might sound like an idiot but what is the thing in the center of the photo used in this article? At first I thought it was someone in a black robe and black veil making their case to the council which upon closer inspection can’t be true, then looking closer it looks like a filled trash bag in the middle of the council which makes even less sense.
What am I looking at here?
At one of the lowest points of my life when i was locked into contract and couldn’t make changes that would better my situation, the lottery was my anti-suicide failsafe. If there was a chance, no matter how small, that life could get better, I had to keep going.
I knew the odds and it wasn’t about winning, just that twice a month I’d buy something that meant I had to keep going because statistically it gave me a chance to change my situation.
However, getting a false win at that time would have absolutely destroyed me.

That scene in the hardware store where Snoop buys the powder-actuated nail gun is still one of the greatest setup scenes in my book, especially after you find out what they need it for.
This brought up the distinct memory of Captain Janeway having Pecan Pie with Gathorel Labin, but I didn’t realize how many Pecan Pie references were in Enterprise as well.
Now I’m wondering if Pecan desserts were a favorite of Star Trek writers rooms or something?
Not to detract from the discussion but does anyone know what’s handwritten at the top of the ‘paper’ above the word Daily? It looks like it says “Hi Hi Farm” or “4141 Farm” and it’s becoming that mystery that’s going to periodically pop in my head at night when I’m trying to sleep.
It’s bitchin’ in the upside down
I read this in a Harley Quinn accent so I’m 99% sure this is the actual Margot Robbie and is all the proof I need to consider this a verified account. Thank you Ms. Robbie for explaining things once again like you did in The Big Short!
You might want to look into Disco Elysium. It’s not exactly scifi or post apocalyptic in a traditional sense but is certainly adjacent to it if not in a subset of it. It plays similarly but is more akin to the gameplay of Planescape: Torment.
It’s at least worth checking out some reviews, descriptions, screenshots, trailers, etc. It might not be your thing but as a Fallout 1 and 2 fan it was right up my alley and is easily one of my favorite games of all time!
Normally, yes! You’d be able to see threads across the Fediverse no matter where you signed up.
If you think of the Fediverse like a shopping mall, think of kbin and lemmy as two different bus companies that go to that same mall. It doesn’t matter what bus you take, both take you to the same place where you can browse the same stores. Maybe you like the seats in the lemmy bus better than the kbin bus so you prefer to use that one. That’s like if someone prefers the interface of lemmy more than kbin. While both go to the same places and see the same things, you might prefer the look and layout of one over the other so you use your favorite primarily.
However, keep in mind that kbin.social has had a massive amount of people sign up in the past few days, and as such it could not handle the large amount of new activity. They are working on a fix for this, but for now kbin.social has been cutoff from the Fediverse while it updates to handle the new load. Think of it like the kbin.social bus is not currently going to the mall – you can get on, see and talk to the people on that bus, but until maintenance is done it won’t actually go to the shopping mall where you can interact with everything across the Fediverse.
There is more to it but that’s a simplified gist of it!
One of my favorite game publishers, this is wild (and not the Outer kind of wild). I’m super curious if the entire staff will start their own publishing company (which I imagine is harder to do without the financial backing of a billionaire’s daughter) or if they’ll split off and go their separate ways.
I’m also very curious if this will start changing the kinds of games Annapurna publishes or if they’ll still take interest in odd and niche games that need a publisher. I wish I knew more about the dispute here but time will tell what happens next at some point.
