Very disappointing that this happened in a mostly developed nation.
If the spider is in your home without consent I support trapping it and kicking it out.
If the spider or mosquito is trying to bite you, then I support your self defense actions much like if a human was trying to bite your arm you’d be in the right to use force.
I do agree that it’s bullshit to pressure actors into signing away their likeness and knew this was a main feature, but SAG is joining the wave that WAG started and I don’t support increasing their residuals. WAG and SAG are basically the cool kids club of landed gentry. I believe people should be able to form unions to pursue self interests, but that doesn’t mean I blindly support every union strike.
Regarding union strikes, I personally don’t get why sanitation workers don’t strike to get a lot more money, they certainly deserve it.
Personally I think actors and writers are overpaid, but I support their right to strike. I also support the studios avoiding the strike by avoiding all SAG actors and other guilds because like I don’t think they’re that much better than non-union members
I agree with your point that it’s possible but not applicable to 99.9% of people
Replace cow with human and see if it passes the test.
Is it ethical to give a human a scarf? Yes. Well it’s also ethical to give a cow a scarf.
Is it ethical to shoot a human in the head? No? Well it’s also unethical to shoot a cow in the head.
Two things.
1 - It’s the backyard chicken problem. Yes your mom doesn’t harm them, but when producing at scale people care less about not harming them
2 - Replacing their honey with sugar is not good because it lacks the vitamins and nutrients that honey has. It’s very possible that you don’t take all the honey so they are never harmed by the actions, but when farming at scale people will absolutely push the limit.
I’ve never seen an ad on the youtube app, it’s just a bug. ___
Yes. I use a service so I pay for the service. I use software frameworks so I donate to their patreons.

Lemmy in the last few days is absolutely tiny compared to a site like reddit, and already instances are struggling to cope.
While this is true, 5 days ago lemmy.ml, the biggest instance, was on a 67 EUR server which is very small. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=36270094
Posts like this: https://lemm.ee/post/58472 suggest it is a problem
This is a scaling problem (having more users means you need more mods) but I disagree with how they handled it and it isn’t a money related thing. My thoughts on this are in an older post when this was first announced https://partizle.com/comment/64178
Why should a handful of “lucky” servers have to pay all the hosting costs?
My initial idea is to use the something awful model of paying a one time fee to register an acount. The problem is that people would just sign up on another instance that doesn’t charge a fee but still add load to the lucky instance. Another approach could be to participate in communities on one of those lucky servers then you need to pay a one time fee to that server (comments would need to be removed by a bot if they’re not made by an approved user). I’m not saying that’s perfect, but it’s an idea. Adsense is another idea.
Here’s an idea: in apollo you swipe left on a comment to collapse the current commet’s thread, this would be nice too.
DJI is a chinese company and it is easier for them to just publish an apk rather than submit to all app stores
Maybe search results should link to archives rather than live urls
and by subscribe I mean follow the community which shows up as a user account
Mastodon users who want to stay on mastodon can subscribe to communities on lemmy and see each post as a tweet in mastodon
Kbin and lemmy are compatible but different projects
I don’t think it’s a problem. If you weren’t using activity pub and just something like reddit then if you were reddit (the sysadmin) you’d also deal with having to scale if your community gets really popular
Stuff that gets linked to also has the same problem

(Btw I don’t like jwz but he mentions it here)
Kabosu is still alive
