Le dev est en train de faire une app pour lemmy https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rubenmayayo.lemmy
Ya, I forgot I turned off automatic app updates after something similar with another app
Idk but I logged in on an older version and it didn’t log me out so maybe downgrade it then upgrade it? (Edit: seems like I’m still on 0.33)
Anyone else notice the big difference between https://the-federation.info/platform/73 and https://fedidb.org/software/Lemmy ?
Yes, there is lag in the sync times
Modlogs are public but the other ones are only available on the server. The servers can of course have their own logging too for connections, etc and cloud services would have access to that as well.
A good template could be the Wikimedia one https://foundation.wikimedia.org/wiki/Policy:Privacy_policy
Also fyi, the code is open source so you could always read exactly what info it’s collecting not that it’s an easy task but tbh I’d rather do that than read legal documents
Something like an IP addresses would have to be connected through your home instance bc that is the site you are connecting to. Generally, privacy policies do not have to cover data that is clearly public (I think you are mixing privacy policy/TOS a bit here). Your posts and comments are public and can only be set as public. Only email address and private data would need to be covered.
I guess you could make up ads for your content but that doesn’t sound like what you’re trying to do. OC is OC. If someone else found your art and posted it with a source, would it be considered an ad to you? Cuz people have been doing that in fanart forums for forever (the artists often have stuff for sale on their pages) and we don’t consider that be ads
Do they have a rule against self-promotion? I thought there was only server-wide rules for ads and spam.
I do find it a bit odd that they didn’t defederate from all open ones, if the problem is ban evasion then people can just change. I don’t think their ban evasion preventative plan is going to work at all. Some of the “restricted” registrations are really just delayed and some are more gatekeepy so it’s not really a solution for them
Also beehaw doesn’t appear on the community browser https://browse.feddit.de/
Not really, the block goes both ways (they can’t see our content and we can’t see theirs) so effectively there are two communities for already subscribed communities
That’s disappointing, I would’ve hoped that if open signups were their main problem then they would have communicated that. Other instances have “closed signups” but are effectively only bot gateways.
Yes, users only see communities from other instances on all that another user from their own instance has subscribed too (or I suppose that they subscribed to but usually people aren’t suprised about that)
Tbh I think an instance not enforcing tagging content as nsfw is probably very strong grounds for blocking imo
Yep I notice their sync rate has been really slow
It’s not like you could have polled users that hadn’t joined yet anyways. Maybe the blocked list could be made more visible so people could be informed early on before they get too invested in their account?
Not really a new thing for them, they’ve been trying to milk r/place since the first one. The last time they let it run too long as well, it needed to be like a 1 or 2 day max thing not a week
