He’s a dictator and law has quickly become a facade in the US. All that was needed was for a money cult to hog government and for the opposition to be ok with becoming spineless leeches of their money as well.
For a better lemmy experience, remember to block lemmy.ml , lemmygrad, and hexbear.net . On mbin, use URL spec /d/<domain_name> and block. Or since that doesn’t seem to work, just block their communities whenever they pop-up.

Maybe, but it is also a social values problem. People have been raised to believe they are entitled to the wealth they’ve accrued, their society be damned. They got one or several houses? They can rent and are entitled to passive income with very little overhead while the rest of society increasingly finds it harder to make ends meet because they don’t even own their property. Have a lot of wealth? Just live off of the interest while inflation and lack of ways to make money for those belonging to the part of the economy not optimized to make as much money as possible get poorer.
Being rich after a certain threshold needs to be taxed. Hiding your wealth in investments and feeding a market only focused on maximizing profit needs to be regulated. How much property someone can own needs to be limited. MAGA is only possible because of the effort they spend to crowdsource the values of greed and narcissism onto their followers.
Expecting them to invest it back into their communities is expecting trickle down economics to work.

You are pretty much the case in point: Grossly stereotyping the alternative into a perspective only based on extreme prejudice with an ample amount of pet peeves projected from personal experience. Like, I was actually expecting to see at least one valid counterpoint, like how much corporate interests shit on and ransack OSS, or the inherent dichotomy between software maintained out of goodwill in an environment that’s increasingly defined by greed and intellectual property bullshit inside failing economies, but nope.
“Don’t look at the man behind the curtains!”
Good thing that the US has a monopoly on chips and they don’t mostly come from Asia/China, right?
The only thing this is assuring is that other places like Europe don’t pass through US brands before getting their computer equipment. If China was already good at one thing, it was at creating generic brands to bypass things like US IP for other regions. Now, the US has given them an additional stimulus in doing so. Hell, it has even given other countries a reason to support China over Taiwan. If you are looking for something to invest in, might want to look into investing in AliExpress.
Good thing for my argument that the problem is most manifestly systemic and not dependent on the rating of any airport pulled out of anyone’s ass. Last I checked, this time the plane didn’t collide with other aircraft, so I’ll give the ATCs a pass. Then again, I wasn’t the one insecure enough to bring them up.
Funny thing, when a system is stressed enough, the effects generally propagate throughout all of it as resources that would have been available in one area are dwindled in other areas. I’ll let you get back to your Canada being a US state lemmy.ml fantasizing.
Imagine being such a Russian pawn that you immediately bring the aviation industry down to Russia’s level.
Yes, nothing exceptional about Trump, all “slow but inevitable”. It’s all the government’s fault, don’t look at the rich oligarch that owns a personality cult creating social network behind the curtains…
How to artificially impose a curfew by making people too afraid to fly. Is this what happens when you get King Musk mad about getting his flights publicly tracked? Gonna bet so, the guy is bitter and corrupt enough the he would want to replace the entire aviation system with one that won’t track him regardless of how many deaths it would mean.
He only cares about free speech when he can control what and whom it is flooded to. If you disagree with him, it will get automatically prioritized for the trash heap and chances are his critics will have worked it out of their system to bother complaining somewhere else, giving him a two for one. A lot of it was built with US soft power, but a lot of it was kept in check because of US soft power. I wouldn’t place bets on everything suddenly toppling to the ground, because that’d be ignoring the opportunities that have been made by removing the soft power barriers. It’s as foolish to assume as claiming to be able to take Ukraine in three days.
As well they should.
There’s a lot of gaslighting on Lemmy, specially because of the nature of by and whom it was founded for. Troll factories play both sides: https://www.wired.com/story/russia-indictment-twitter-facebook-play-both-sides/
It’s been a couple of years since Teslas were the go-to option, at least this is making people catch up to the fact.
That security and those in the white house are part of those millions of Americans, and there’s more than can be done than just targeting him outright. It’s funny that Texas and California have large secessionist movements coming from the GQP, but when the nation is at risk of actual fascism, there’s nothing remotely similar coming from Democrats. There is a world of different options available to those who seek it, I’m just stating this one as an example that the other side has no problem considering.
I think at this point Trump might even want another pandemic so he can put export tariffs on the vaccines leading US pharmaceuticals will have to develop.
Welcome back from your 3 day hiatus, totally different person not trying to entrap people.
So three weeks to either suck up to the US until Russia snipes them off while the US does so as well. Trump opening up with wanting to acquire Greenland and Canada wasn’t him being mad, it wasn’t him being resentful, it wasn’t him being a strong man, it was always within the context of where Trump’s US along with Russia are positioning themselves now. Forget the bombing of Hiroshima, if a nuclear bomb got dropped in Ukraine or Europe, Trump and his followers would blame Europe and do nothing to help it. The US has gone from being schizophrenic bipolar to just being psychotic. COVID was a herald of the world that awaits them, people will get to decide if they follow it as slaves or die with some dignity, knowing that their legacy might be buried under a sea of lies.
