  • if you don’t want to be assaulted.

you don’t have to apologize, that’s not my point. in fact i want you to quietly think about how what you said before, and just now might be wrong til it hits home for you.

i know it seems like im baiting an answer. its the net, arguing is fun, nothing’s stopping you from replying, but I’m being straight with you. stop victim blaming. you’re not stupid, im not saying you are. *please, stop. it only helps the oppressor, and we’re all getting stomped by that boot.

i want you to know im not tryina bust your chops specifically. sure, i picked your comment to reply to, but it’s nothing personal.

I’m also speaking broadly to the room, reminding everybody what we already know; that how we look at pervasive surveillance n how we got to live under it is absolutely broken.

  • i’d like to point out that it shouldn’t be on women (or anyone) to be on constant guard against attacks on their privacy.

yes, it is the state of the world, but the attitude of your comment is victim blaming.

let’s not forget that while we on Lemmy may be aware of the danger of mass surveillance tech, we’re not the majority.

snowden told us years ago how fucked everything is, and surveillance has only grown since then. let’s not forget that it is not normal that corpo data-mining is the norm (along with included de-facto warrantless surveillance). Even though we all should be better, nobody should have to be as careful as we are.

hell, let’s be real. As long as we use a smartphone, we’re not being careful enough either.

when you put it in those terms, i tend to agree.

im only saying that if ya take ops statement “always has been” to mean “for longer than you’ve been living” then it’s nitpicky to bring up what the party was — in response to a joke meme comment — before anyone here was even born.

but it’s not like we disagree or anything, nor did op explicitly say that. it was just my own readin.

    have a good one

Naw it’s valid anger in response to “surface civility” i see “pretend intellectuals” use when they speak.

Just… repeating what talking heads say, just deadass parroting some pundit on tv like it’s gospel? Quite rage inducing.

Combined with lil comments assuming superiority? Haha of course OP got pissed. Arrogant + ignorant is a powerful combination

    Enough about that.

    Let’s talk about you.

You need to tend your own garden. Fascism is on the rise worldwide, including wherever you are from. Stop wagging your finger and pick up a hoe.

If you’re getting your perspective from billionaire-owned news, (which no fault to you, is most major news-sources) it’s no wonder that you’d think that. By the way, that’s the exact same narrative the “billionaire-bullypulpit” push here in the States, even though it isn’t so.

These politicians and the media have the same lock step lie. They say they’re moving to the right “because their voters are”, but they’re just gaslighting folks as cover for what they were doing anyway; whatever their rich donors tell them.

  • Sounds like avocado toast-ian blame-shifting to me. Just like the rest of these pieces, they ignore the obvious, horrible conditions of life, and choose to tut-tut at the abused for ‘improperly’ using their free time.

just like the avocado toast shit, the translation of these pieces is broadly:

Look away, reader, from the terrible low wages, high cost of living, and soul-crushing work hours japanese people are forced to endure. Focus your attention on these 19% of young people, who don’t know any better, who you are better than. Laugh at these losers who admit that one time they almost couldn’t cover their expenses!!

    Let’s look at the article.

Interestingly enough, while these results indicate that the popularity of in-game transactions may be increasing, the average amount of money spent on them is actually decreasing.

Hmm, could it be the actual problem is the immense increases to CoL young (and all) people have been under? I wonder why the article doesn’t even bring it up? So curious 🤔

Oh well. So like, how much money are we talking about on gacha? How much are these 19% of young folks spending? Must be a ton eh?

Article doesn’t say, but we do get these numbers

In 2024, young people spent an average of around 5,138 yen ($35.85 USD) on microtransactions per month while this year’s survey results state that the average amount of money spent on microtransactions is 4,247 yen ($29.63 USD) per month.

So it’s not a lot, not really. I say again, this article is slop created to take your eyes away from the real problems of the world and victim blame the ones suffering under them.
