Earlier rumors speculated that Apple would cripple it via software, either restricting charging speed, data transfer, or both.

A few more than that if you count the S versions.

I’m certain an all-out legislative war would be waged against TOR if it were to become popularized for most of those reasons, under the more convenient guise of “criminals and children!”

I got a Synology years ago hoping to do this, but I didn’t do enough research and the model I got couldn’t quite decide and stream very well. I ended up just using it for backup and using my PC as a Plex server for a while. I eventually got an Nvidia Shield and just plugged in a large SSD to it and that works well.

iMessage is only a big deal in the US and maybe Canada. The rest of the world uses WhatsApp and Telegram mostly.

I use several different apps because my friends and family are a good mix of Android and iPhones. I use Blue Bubbles, WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, Facebook Messenger, Google Messages, Signal, and Meet for “FaceTime” calls.

Doubtful. Apple never wanted it because why give non-Apple users access to an Apple product? One of the Apple execs said it was never a possibility.

I haven’t seen anything but I haven’t looked into it either. It would be nice to see because I used Joey before I switched to Sync. But I always like trying out different apps.

I’ve been bouncing between Liftoff and Connect. I loved Sync for Reddit so I’ll be using that when it comes out, though I also tried and liked Boost, Joey, and Infinity for Reddit.

I tried Jerboa but it was missing quite a few features at the time, but it’s also really new so that wasn’t a problem.

I do spend most of my time on Kbin so I just use the mobile web interface.

Only $4.5 million? That amount seems kind of low if the data they have is as valuable as they say.
