Avoid the browser but I’ve been using their search on Firefox. Really like the AI summarizer and the results are also good.

Waiting for autocorrect to be implemented on it for years now :) Good to see new commits on the project.
Ah got it. Must be because I’m using the Simple Gallery app and it does have issues when cropping PNGs.
https://github.com/SimpleMobileTools/Simple-Gallery/issues/2349
Appears fine to me.
They have it planned if you go through the ReadMe in the repo, some work needs to be done before that.
$18 per week?! Damn Netflix and Disney+ prices aren’t even that high.
Now that’d feel like paying for adware :(
One of the devs has already forked it and plans to maintain the project.
Wait the Libre version also has full network access.
Ah sorry, I didn’t know there was a Libre flavor of Aves, had just checked the regular Aves on FDroid. Thanks for this!
QKSMS.
I donated to them directly once and then again opted for the PlayStore versions to buy these apps. Sadly, I will have to move to the FDroid version now because the PlayStore one, the ones I paid for, can get infected with adware any day now.
Contact YOU app has SMS inbuilt. The SMS support is in very early stage so buggy but the dev is going on at an amazing pace. Just give it a few more months.
For dialer, I’d keep using the simple app for now. There’s Koler with material you theme but it hasn’t seen dev in 5 months and doesn’t have all the feature like regex-based call blocking.
Isn’t offline though and doesn’t have a feature-rich video editor like Simple Gallery had :(
Keep using the current version for now, it’s perfectly stable.
Simple Gallery has a feature rich photo and video editor as well. I haven’t found any FOSS app that can edit videos. Also, any Material You themed Dialer app? Don’t want to use the old AOSP one :(
Other than these two, I think all other apps have good alternatives.
For Contacts and Clock, use YOU apps. I don’t think anything can replace the Gallery, I’ll continue using the current version for as long as there’s a new community-maintained fork. It’s quite stable really, doesn’t really need changing this very moment.
Yeah that seems plausible.
YouTube has also started attaching a Share ID of sorts:
https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ?si=rzmQCXsZkblahblah
The “si” query parameter is the tracker in question.
Presumably, it has your user ID embedded in it so all your efforts to concele your identity by using anon IDs on Lemmy/Reddit/Twitter etc routing through VPNs Tor whatnot can be shattered with a single share of a YouTube video. Plus, they can track and associate users with each other based on who all opened your link.
Paying education loans even after 20 years of working in public service? Seems like a failure of the education system. I’m from Europe, also been to India a lot on business, and never have I seen anything of this magnitude. You can get a good education even in India for a very nominal tuition fee that middle-class parents are also able to cover without taking out loans. For poor families, it’s virtually nothing in good state universities. The idea is that education will empower even the poor and they’ll be able to get a good job and become tax paying citizens. Not like if you’re poor, we’re still gonna crush the heck out of you with more debt. The latter seems to be the strategy employed in the US. In most European countries, education is virtually free covered by taxes. Of course taxes are high but it benefits everyone in terms of healthcare and education. Is that really so bad? Isn’t it the government’s job to make sure EVERYONE has access to good healthcare and education? Then why does it feel that it is a money-oriented corporation running the country rather than a government?
Sorry, went on a rant there. Whenever I see something like this it just makes my blood boil. Teachers, firefighters, nurses still paying student loans after a decade or two, that’s a failure of the education system right there.
