For someone not from New York, could somebody explain, as I still don’t understand it, why federal government has any say in this, and why trump admin even cares about it?

What they are discussing is removing sanctions on Russia and discussing how far NATO borders should move.

putin’s ultimate goal is to rebuild old USSR borders and control the whole Europe and Asia, he is not hiding it.

trump doesn’t seem to have a problem with that and whatever he is getting from putin in return he thinks it is worth it.

Meanwhile musk, Vance and others are trying convert US into technofeudalism[1] and eventually get rid of trump one they succeed (trump likely was convinced by them that it is for his own benefit).

You’re forgetting that uninsured people when get really sick they will end up in the emergency room, and of course won’t have money to pay it, so you will still be footing the bill as yours will have those losses included.

Now if immigrants could get an insurance, they likely would pay part off the insurance bill (the other part would be subsidized by the state), and most importantly they would see a doctor before issue would become so bad that it would become an emergency saving the state (and effectively you) tons of money.

You still need them for many recipes, and it is not like consumption was 0, the ones that consumed then still are affected, even if overall consumption is lower than in other countries.

Section 230 allowed companies like Facebook, Twitter, Google have mass media that’s also personalized to each recipient. You can influence anyone’s views by serving content that pushes their buttons.

They just use section 230 to be able to push any content, and section 230 protects them from consequences.

Why should they be protected this way? TV, radio, newspapers are liable for posting false information.

You think that social media gives you a platform, but since they decide what others see, this is just an illusion. Your content won’t be visible unless they determines it should be promoted.

This is likely why social media companies are so deep into generative AI. With it they no longer need people to generate specific content.

Exactly, we need to drop it and organize like people used to, put flyers over the city. The social media only gives you illusion that you have a platform, in reality they still control who sees your message (if anyone).

It’s also important to distinguish freedom of speech (protected by the first amendment) from free speech (a made up concept meant to bastardize on the former and to allow social media post whatever they want anonymously, like this ad).

That’s why I said removed or changed. It should be changed in a way that wouldn’t apply to big sites, but still could somehow buy used by hobbyists as it was intended to.

That section should be repealed or rewritten. It was originally meant so hobbyists running forms wouldn’t be responsible for content posted by the users.

Currently companies like Twitter, Meta, Google etc can control what is shown to users and hide behind this protection.

They call themselves patriots, but they are nationalists, which is even crazier as what drives them is hate to other countries… And for some reason love for Russia (which is why at least Polish nationalist representation has some problem with)
