I can see the alphas railing against the term “tablet-fed”. They are NOT gonna like that.

That’s gonna be what us cranky old millennials call them later while we would be yelling at them to get off our lawn. But we won’t yell that, because none of us will own any yards.

I don’t know if this is specifically possible. I’m not quite rookie-level new (been using it about a year now) but I have something I would love to have convenience-wise.

It’s a desktop machine with regular speakers, and I have a wireless headset that connects to its own dongle (not Bluetooth). It’s there a way to switch to the headset automatically when I power it on, and revert to speakers when I turn it off?

I feel like it’s possible hardware-wise, but I’m not tryna learn how to code to make it happen, and I don’t know how to find a software solution. I don’t even know what to call what I’m looking for.

That was half the reason I upgraded. I don’t know if my old box would’ve been compatible (probably was), but I wanted it off Microsoft territory so bad and heating about Copilot sent shivers all over my spine.

I’ve never heard of installing any new OS without having to back stuff up. That’s just wishful lazy thinking lol.

You probably won’t have to do anything manually about Wine. Steam has Proton built in and it works great. As others always mention, check ProtonDB.com for user reports on how a specific game will work out.

I haven’t run into any problems in my library, but I honestly haven’t installed a ton of games.

I’ve used Heroic Games Launcher and Lutris for some other launchers (like Battle.net or Epic Games), and those have been a little hit or miss, but I think the main problem is something I’m missing. Not a huge priority but I’m still working on it occasionally.

I haven’t heard anyone call or 3D card since the 90s. They’re video cards or GPUs these days man. AMD has open source drivers that work just fine with Linux and should work just the same as the Windows version I believe.

Nvidia has open source ones, but they seem to be pretty terrible compared to the closed source ones. I had one issue with them last week but I think that was more related to KDE than it was the drivers’ fault.

I don’t really have any fancy hardware to describe how easy that was to get to work. Just a mouse, kb, headset(with mic) all of which worked fine without doing anything. I have a physical dongle for the controller, so I had to get a driver for that so I didn’t have to use a Bluetooth connection (pretty shitty comparatively speaking) or gasp plug it in. Had a few issues with it for a while, there was an updated version under a new name and such but it all works now. Just turn the controller on and it’s working instantly (unless I forget to charge it lol).

I don’t think you understand what seeing a 4k image or video means. You can’t see a 4k image or video without a 4k screen. Maybe a 15 year old camera can capture it, but you can’t see it, even with today’s phone screens.

The only TV I’ve ever owned was like 19". The only real-size TVs I’ve ever watched are my parents’ and the one my roommate had in the living room.

And just because they’ve been available since 2019 (according to you- I honestly can’t remember when they started showing up lol) doesn’t mean they were common or cheap at the time. And both of those units (the ones I’ve spent any time with) were bought around 2016 anyway. Not sure what world you live in where everybody buys a new TV every 3 or 4 years, but it’s not a universal thing, or even the norm. Where having an SDTV might justify a midnight trip to go get a real TV, the need for 4k is less than 0.

So no, I am quite sure I’ve never seen a 4k image or video. Because I’ve never owned it has access to a 4k screen. That in and of itself is enough to verify that much, without having to worry about how modern it is, it what it was shot with, or recorded on, or how it was downloaded, or where/how it was streamed or any of that confusion.

No 4k screen means I’ve never seen anything that could only be on one.

I still don’t think that I’ve ever seen a 4k image or video. plenty of morons out there sliding the quality up to 4k and going “Look at how good it looks!” whole I know full well their screen is at 1080 and I internally cringe.

But yeah, late 2024 and I’ve still never even seen a 4k screen to my knowledge.

At least not in person and not rebroadcast to a 1080 TV. So it doesn’t count.

I totally get it. I wish some of it was modular. My screen is too big 90% of the time. I love it for a clear view of the backup camera. It’s nice for a clear view of the map if I’m out of town. Much better than trying to fumble with that on as phone like I did before.

But I don’t have to do that often. It’s not really in the way or anything but sometimes I just don’t wanna see pixels. I can adjust it, but it’s too much of a pain to mess with.

Practically, and in an actual setting, no doubt. I’m not sure that’s a business we wanna get into in practice.

This is just an overgrown middle schooler way of saying how lowly I think they rank in particular.

Why do sex traffickers still receive human rights? Honestly. Once convicted they should be free use tissue. If the victim didn’t wanna get revenge, they turn to medical slaves for testing. Something like that.

If you can’t do the time, don’t do the crime. Traffickers are uniquely evil and should get a unique legal treatment. I feel revulsion at a lot more acts and attitudes than I used to, but I’ve never felt bad at all for a trafficker. Even if there was a movie level backstory explaining them, until down otherwise, I feel is personally completely impossible for me to feel bad about anything that’s happened to them, and I would feel absolute glee if I heard they so much as got a paper cut. No other people group do I so thoroughly enjoy every little thing that they don’t enjoy. The sadder and more upset they get, the happier I am. But it only applies to them.

As a stupid kid I would have applied that to a lot of people. All of whom I feel terrible about it now. Except this one. I still love their suffering, and I don’t see that ever stopping.

And I do understand the problems changing their status would bring up legally, but I still wish I could own a torture farm just for them. Make a Saw multiverse.

I mean you give people authority over kids and then teach them to hate the sexual part of their personality, and something’s gonna go wrong, probably way more often than it goes right.

I haven’t done any real reading on it yet, this is just a really common sense starting hypothesis. So don’t take it for more than that. But that’s my guess.

I absolutely hate (not dislike) that “huah” vocal noise that’s commonly associated with him and think any human making that noise needs to be taken out immediately.

I’ve never heard anything about any of this but I absolutely hate him and any contract he made on society simply as a product of the horror of that noise.

I exaggerate for humor, clearly, but I really do absolutely hate that noise and do not give it a single shred of artistic respect at all, it’s flatly and out-of-hand declined any consideration for credit at all and people that like him as an artist I will literally completely discount any of their artistic opinions.

I have the same artistic hate for Elvis that I have political and personal hate for Trump.

I don’t even have a way to know exactly what it is but just hearing his voice immediately sends me into a blinding rage. It’s not to my knowledge some kinda trauma type of memory associated with it, because I was only exposed to enough of it to just recognize the voice. There are just a few things I know of that make me that angry that quickly. One of them is having to backtrack. Like realizing you forgot a critical grocery and having to go back to the store immediately, or forgetting to bring that one super important thing to work and you have to go back for it before going in. That part multiplies with any kind of time pressure.

But Elvis hits me in the same kind of spot. A randomly specific and very reactive trigger. Well I say reactive but I just end up telling at myself and increasing blood pressure for a few minutes. I don’t literally go into a fugue state and start dropping people.

All that just to say that with me he is absolutely NOT loved and the little bit I heard about some kind of drama with the Graceland estate makes me laugh myself silly because screw those people, the whole lot of them. Do fans of Elvis even care a little bit about any of the family careers? It doesn’t seem so to me, but I’m not an expert.
