See picture.

Dude I literally spit out my cat when I heard him railing off there.
I will continue to argue that GenX is the only true technology literate generation because we grew up with the technology as it evolved. Future generations are more consumers not partners in the technology they own.
Yea it’s a vast generalization but Apple is a good analogy of this. Most people now just want “a technology that works” without any understanding or control over how it works. That’s a recipe for technological serfdom under the new generation of technocratic companies designed to own us.
Am I ever going to own a free phone? Probably not, but that doesn’t excuse me from at least understanding from a high level all the players involved in my phone and where they’re generating value from me.
“The skibidi toilet”
Linux absolutely isn’t perfect, no technology is. But in my years of experience with both, Linux on the whole is far less finicky, and far easier to fix when it breaks.
I agree 110% but it’s also worth mentioning that windows isn’t as finicky as we complain about. If it was, companies wouldn’t by and large rely on it. People are delusional if they think Windows is only around because of some conspiracy or historical precedent. “It works” plain and simple. As you scale you’re going to run into issues regardless of the OS. It’s naive to think Linux is the be all that end all. As much as anyone I want to be Linux only. My home computers have been Linux for decades now. I’m a realist. There’s value and challenges with every OS. I hate the industry trend of Windows over Linux but I get it
Best is when you’re at the end and you bring out the spatula. It’s like a mini Christmas.
Seriously. In Canada too. Our countries are huge but even in populated areas like LA there are well documented food deserts.
I know a lot of Africans. I question why any of them would want to move to America as opposed to Canada (where I am) and like me they don’t understand when someone they know does make the decision to move south.
Yes the money is better but no one is going to care if you’re from Zimbabwe. A black person is a black person is a black person down there and by and large America is hostile AF to black people.

I tend to stick with what the language wants me to use.
And for the most part it’s still powered by underpaid South Asian manpower lol.
Ah yes. A phone is a car. Got it.
Also, who tf is exploiting kids because they have a phone? Do you also remove all TVs from your house? What about the radio? Can’t have Lady Gaga singing about “poke her face” to my kids! Lol
This is an extremely reactionary take. I hear what you are saying but I draw the line as delusional and irresponsible unless you apply that to pretty much all parents that don’t completely smother their children.
We make mistakes as we grow. We lie. We get hurt. Technology is always Pandora’s box. I’d argue we have better knowledge of our kids now than we ever used to and stats show the world is safer now than it has ever been.
If you live in fear you will form your decisions from a place of fear.
I will argue smartphones or any electronic is not the problem. The problem is lazy parents.
My kids all have had phones since before 10 and they’re all well adjusted but to be clear I monitor their usage and I check in with my kids regularly.
I cannot hold back society or technology at the fear of my kids being left behind. What I can do is help them navigate both as they grow.
I love how quick we are to lay the blame anywhere but parents.
Bravely ran away away!
Fair point
The difference between intelligence and wisdom. We have been prioritizing the former at the detriment of the latter.
This is how you end up with people like Elon Musk who I will give the benefit of the doubt and say he isn’t dumb, but Christ he’s a moron.
Meh. I respectfully disagree. This is the system we designed. It’s working exactly as intended. What we need is a sea change. The system is broken and that’s evident everywhere. The path we are on doesn’t work. The only way to course correct is for everyone to get on the same page and as is witnessed during the yearly COP meetings clearly the rich nations don’t fully care about the poor countries. Things are changing but dreadfully slow.
I may not have been fully clear. You are right people in both parties are struggling. My argument is those more rational people are better positioned to handle adversity so they’re still using all their options when drawing their political decisions.
That said, it may sound compassionate but I don’t necessarily practice what I preached there all the time. I think the people with “Fuck Trudeau” stickers are fucking morons.
And that’s where I disagree. I don’t think they’re stupid. I think they aren’t coping and because of all the stress and hatred in them it’s affecting their ability to think critically. People are not dumb. Decades of stress around food, job, health, etc security have negatively impacted people’s ability to make adult decisions.
Good news and it points to the idea that Canada will drop .5 at their next meeting. Inflation in Canada is down to 2%>
I personally agree with some people that a .25 drop would be more prudent but I understand and accept a .5 drop should it happen. It seems like the worst is over now it’s a matter of sticking the landing.
