Let’s not beat around the bush, or indulge in unnecessary drama: I’m moving to another instance and Patient Gamers needs a new main mod.
Even though I’ve neglected it (the initial plan was to play things by ear for a few days, and accordingly give shape to the place afterwards), this community has attracted a good number of subscribers, it has potential if put in good hands. Hence why I’d rather give the keys to someone else than close, or abandon, it at the same time as my account.
Edit: I appreciate those mentioning that I could mod from another account, but I have no desire to remain involved with this instance in any way.
Hey did you know you can be a mod of a community that’s on a different instance? Just add your new account to the mod list, then remove your old account.
I’d advise against doing any mod actions from a non-local account until v0.18 is released due to this bug in previous versions: https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/3075
TL;DR: Any change to a community by a non-local mod makes it “homeless”, breaking federation.
Ouch, that’s an ugly issue. And too bad too, until now, the people interested by the role are from other instances…
+1 to this, I recommend granting your new instance account mod status after it has made a comment on the old c/patientgamers.
In addition to that, I would be interested in being an additional mod, lets keep working on the existing community unless you are worried that defederation issues might limit its accessibility. In which case feel free to invite me to the new one and we can get activity up.
Yup, I’ve already noticed that. However, in this case, I don’t plan on hanging on sh.itjust.works any longer.

Duly noted! 😊
