It is hard to believe this moron has a chance of being president again. We are a doomed country.
Don’t let the media and talking heads convince you of anything.
There are a great majority of people who want nothing to do with Trump, his Russian bootlicking or any of his other xenophobic hate.
Just vote.
But the system is rigged so that a relatively small minority of morons can fuck shit up for everybody else. So yeah, guys, vote like your life depends on it because it literally does.
And those of us who are voting and get elected will, and have been, continue to stop vote rigging, jerrymandering, and voter intimidation.
Voting doesn’t end at the end of the presidential election. It involves your local elections too. Especially anything to do with your local educational system.
It’s not a relatively small minority. Trump has lost the popular vote every time he’s run, but not by huge margins. There are a lot of people that legitimately want Trump as a president, and many more that view him as the lesser of two evils. Don’t underestimate that and definitely don’t let down your guard.
Only about 30% of people vote in the US and half of that is 15%. So, pretty small.
Exactly, and even if it might seem like your single vote doesn’t matter, you would be surprised. trump won in 2016 because disinformation on social media convinced people that their vote won’t change anything and Hillary will win anyway.
Also vote at least every 2 years, it isn’t just the president that matters, the Congress is important too
Congress is more imortant than the president by the looks from an outsider.
How is the house reps elected in the USA?
By district, which is all the voters in a smaller geographic area. House Reps are up for re election every 2 years. The intent of the House is to give more representatives to states with higher populations, so for example New York has 26 representatives while Kansas only has 4.
However, instead of purely representing population, the number of House reps has been capped at 435, which weighs heavily in favor of less populated (Republican) states. If that cap was removed, Democrats would have a permanent lock on the House.
Thanks!
He’s the Republican nominee. What do you mean by letting “the media and talking heads convince you of anything?” Based on the previous two presidential elections, he’s got a 50/50 shot which says a lot about his opponent.
In what world does the number of candidates have anything to do with hundred of millions of peoples independent votes.
This is just bad stats
The world where out of the 400 RNC candidates filed through the FEC, Trump was the one that people have been voting for in the primaries by a landslide.
There were 161 Million total registered voters in 2022, and 335 Million total USA Population, so even if tens of millions of people, a comparatively small fraction, vote for Donald Trump then he can very easily win this election.
In this world. He already won one election and came very close to winning the second back in 2020. Combine that with yet another weak-ass Dem candidate being the only other option and you have a recipe where it’s entirely possible for him to win again.
You’re comparing apples to oranges here. The circumstances have changed since 2020 and to ignore 4 years of hearings, charges, additional threats (much less vague now) and libertarian distain for trump is significantly different from what it was when he ran in 2016, and when he had that momentum in 2020 (Covid year, don’t forget)
Donald Trump is going to bite the curb this election and I’ll bet you a bunch of people still vote for RFK.
And now he’s been charged with 30+ felonies.
#LockHimUp
Yeah this sounds a lot like pollsters claiming that Clinton had a 99% chance of winning in 2016.
Biden seems to be going out of his way to alienate progressive voters and conservative voters will never vote for him. The ‘fence sitters’ who don’t pay attention to politics will simply see inflation and high prices and blame whomever is currently holding office due to all the conditioning and rhetoric they hear regarding it.
Any election should see a guy like Trump defeated in a landslide, but that’s not the reality we live in and the guy running against him is doing such a poor job that Trump might actually win again.
I agree with your final paragraph. He isn’t a perfect candidate.
But I don’t think there will ever be a perfect candidate and when they’re running against a literal fascist dictator, I know who I will vote for. I’ve said this before but a primarily 2-party system is dangerously naïve. Simplifying the insanely complex reality that is the US into 2 options is stupid. Not to mention how much it alienates minorities (of all types not just race, religion, sex)
How are we to represent down to the minority level via a popular-vote. It doesn’t make sense to me.
It was hard to believe the last time…
I don’t know.
I’m perplexed honestly.
I live in italy and here too government took a steep turn to the right since last elections.
It is like the most roborantly bamboozling idiocy someone from a stage can scream the more he gets applauded as the folks’ hero for speaking their unsung voices.
On the other hand if you try to build an organic and critical dialogue you only get yawned away as utterly boring.
I don’t think it is the ones screaming from their stages being the morons, well not the most moron at least, but instead they are those who give their precious votes, hard conquered from their ancestors who gift them with a life in a democracy, to these unambiguously unmistakable frauds, and who hide in the self-obliviousness of the guilty conscience for the vote they have cast their incapability of admitting their own deep existential self-inadequacy.
Lots of people are incredibly stupid. Many of those stupid people are also selfish and mean. It will always be easy to appeal to those people by blaming all their problems on others. Until science figures out a way to force on the empathy parts of our brains, we’ll go through these cycles of stupid people cheering on fascism.
If he wasn’t running, republicans would put some other gullible fucking idiot in office.
Fuck trump and all but he literally did not say he would stop all electric car sales. He said he would stop all sales of Chinese brand cars manufactured in Mexico.

The “you’re not going to be able to sell those cars” line is about 32 minutes in.
Articles like this are exactly how fake news gets traction.
It’s so damn annoying. I’m not sure how algorithms are supposed to suppress BS alarmist articles without being accused of bias either.
This is a great article to fact check the crapnout of, but because people like the “facts” it gets a pass.
Thank you.
That Gizmodo article is HORRIBLY written up and there never actually mention the quote outside of the blurb beneath the headline so the lack of context had me questioning them. Pretty shitty reporting.
Which is funny since Biden has the exact same position, which is why he expanded on Trump’s trade war with China by upping tariffs on EVs to 100%. I highly doubt Biden would let China do the Mexico workaround either, if he can help it.
Did China even produce anything in Mexico, my understanding is that they want to produce everything internally.
They’re trying to bring the European side of manufacturing to Hungary. We Hungarians are unhappy about it, because they get subsidized like hell.
What’s with that?
I recently read an article that he is allowing to install China’s face tracking cameras in Hungary. I first thought that he was installing it for his own benefit and just got the technology from China, but this actually will be used by China.
While I might grasp his unexplained love for putin, this looks like just selling your country to foreign autocracies.
Well, a lot of boomers think office work isn’t real work, a deadweight on the economy, and will turn kids gay thus not making (great-)grandchildren due to not getting dirty and having an air conditioner. The previous system somehow reproduced the toxic Calvinist work morals of capitalist countries, and not only the politically illiterate calls this kind of behavior “communism”, but there’s a very big number of the pensioners, whose votes can be bought by promising more underpaid manual labor to their (grand)children.
The camera thing might be him getting more and more afraid. He’s losing popularity, and even if he crushes popular movements (often by “doomerism”), there are more and more popping up. If the AI bubble burst (which will cause a financial recession) or some of his allies will fall, he can also fall too. He’s a paranoid maniac that goes everywhere in a bullet vest. He just loves his fellow autocrats, especially as he can work together with them.
BYD and at least one or two others are/will be.
Aren’t those already banned by Biden?
100% tariff on cars imported from China makes them unsellable. However there’s a free trade agreement with Mexico so GM and Ford can use the cheap labor.
Many people have pointed that out as a loophole and BYD has announced a factory on Mexico. If we wanted to block importing Chinese cars from Mexico, while still allowing GMs and Fords, we’d have to take additional action. This just means both candidates have vowed they would
As you said, this would require an additional action.
And to me it looks like it can’t be done by EO and would have to be a legislation. And during trump very few legislations got passed even when they had a majority.
The restrictions on sale through Mexico can be implemented when it actually is a problem.
I found an article where they announced a factory in Mexico, but it first have to be built. The news also appears to be before the sanctions were announced. So if that factory was meant for US market this could change their plans, as adding 100% sanctions signals determination to plugin other loopholes.
They are just trying to one-up each other as always. Children in old-man bodies.
Please, free market capitalists: defend your hero.
Gotta imagine there’s a free speech absolutist who doesn’t love this
They’re not a car company anyway, they’re a “robotics and AI company”. Apparently.
I’m not sure Pelosi would call Trump her “hero”
I don’t think she is calling herself a free market capitalist.
Though I agree, she is being cheeky. This isn’t a free market, it’s the opposite of it. It is insider trading and she and no one in Congress should be allowed to do that.
Does Pelosi call herself a free market capitalist?
Did you read the article I linked?
No, because it says ‘page unavailable’ when I try.
Now please answer my question.
Not sure why you’re being so pushy?
Anyway, here’s the correct link. It should answer your question…
https://apnews.com/article/business-nancy-pelosi-congress-8685e82eb6d6e5b42413417f3d5d6775
Asking you a question then asking you to answer it when you don’t is hardly being pushy.
But the answer is that no, she doesn’t call herself that, she just says that this is a free market. So I’m not sure why you couldn’t just say so.
This is just naked corruption, making promises to the oil execs he’s been trying to curry favor with, right? Because apart from that - the thing that might put more money in Trump’s pocket - I can’t fathom what the point would be.
To “own da libz.”
He’s pandering to the section of his base who all drive lifted coal rollin’ diesel trucks who all know that “everyone knows” electric vehicle owners are all avocado toast eating homosexuals who vote Democrat.
It’s a double win for him. Yes, he’s courting automakers and the oil and gas industry, so this gets him that, but a giant percentage of his base is simply against anything that liberals are for. Think of those idiots rolling coal. They’re literally making their cars as polluting as possible. What do they gain from it? The only thing it does, besides contributing to climate change, is upset liberals, and that’s the goal. Every one of those people will support this.
I think you’re overanalyzing things.
He’s a liar and a con man and he’s just telling his supporters what they want to hear. Tomorrow, he’ll tell his other supporters that he’s going to do the exact opposite because that’s what they want to hear. There is no consistency or underlying ideal other than telling people what they want to hear so that he can get more support.
Oh can’t wait to see Elon’s response to that. 🍿
Elon will donate a few mil to his campaign, and Tesla will end up being the only company allowed to sell them.
This will eat 80% of Tesla profits, so he will probably ask Tesla to hurry up with the $56 billion he think he is owed.
Tesla stock would plummet even faster than they have recently. Then he will try to convince Trump to use SpaceX for his Space Force, and have Trump implanted with a chip from Neuralink so he can remote control him. 😋 And then blame any problems on the Jews.
That tracks.
I can’t wait for Trump to be the first RC Human.
Shit dude you can see the fucking strings as it is
No puppet! No puppet! You’re the puppet!
and have Trump implanted with a chip from Neuralink so he can remote control him.
If there’s one person that can make Trump even worse, it’s Elon.
Well Elon and Trump supposedly talk several times a month, so it’s probably Elon telling Trump to block non American EV sales here. But there’s really no telling what they’re talking about.
Trump just confused things (Hailey, Pelosi, Biden, Obama etc). What he means is that he will ban European cars built in Mexico, but allow Tesla produced in China.
I’m half serious, because that’s much more consistent with his policies in 2017-2020
Working at the onion must be so. hard. right now
“Donald Trump will kill ‘at least seven prostitutes’ while in office.”
No… how about “Donald Trump sings the entire National Anthem on key.”
“Donald Trump finally unmasked as secret santa in Harlem children’s program.”
Wait… I think I unlocked a secret.
“Donald Trump goes home to family, enjoys quiet evening with loved ones”
“Donald Trump Spends Six Minutes in Silence Contemplating a Tree”
“Donald Trump says he Loves his Dear Son Eric and would move Heaven and Earth for Him”
Or is that going too far?
the thing about jokes and satire is that they’re funniest when they have a nugget of truth to them.
I’m not even sure Eric is related to Donald.
That’s a funny way to get the auto companies and unions in the three states Biden really needs to go all in on Biden.
I’m confused. Both of them seem to be trying to lose this election.
Brewster’s Millions gets more and more realistic by the day.
Vote “none of the above.”
Why? Better margins on gas cars, I think industrial Michigan would love this because it means they won’t be squeezed into electric car manufacturing. I get told by big 3 engineers that if it wasn’t for the subsidies they wouldn’t be electrifying their fleets. The consumer may not like it, unions may not like it, but the companies could give a damn.
I get told by big 3 engineers that if it wasn’t for the subsidies they wouldn’t be electrifying their fleets.
We’ve been subsidizing ICE vehicles for the better part of the last century. Famously, Bush Jr passed enormous tax cuts for SUVs and other “light trucks” back in 2003.
Congress recently passed a tax bill, as proposed in President Bush’s economic stimulus plan, that offers a $100,000 tax credit for business owners who purchase any vehicle weighing 6,000 pounds or more when fully loaded.
Because these rules didn’t require a business to exist for a minimum length of time or post a profit, car dealerships would help buyers spin up small businesses on the spot in order to avail themselves of the credit. SUVs flooded the market and have been a load on the national car fleet ever since.
Now we’re pivoting to electric vehicles in order to stay competitive globally, and (fossil fuel endorsed) business magazines have suddenly started poo-pooing the idea of vehicle subsidies as unnatural. Curious.
Yeah, that corporate tax credit is also why the Ford F-150 is the most commonly purchased vehicle by millionaires and billionaires. It’s the smallest vehicle able to be classified as a work truck, to qualify for tax credits. They can basically deduct the entire cost of the vehicle on their taxes, because they purchase it through a shell corporation (of which they’re the sole owner and operator.)
I answered that in the first post. Better margins on ice, thats why businesses ‘suddenly’ don’t like the current subsidies we have.
The party of limiting personal freedom.
If I want to buy an electric car, why shouldn’t I be able to?
Because it takes profits from the oil industry, and we can’t have that!

If I want to buy an electric car, why shouldn’t I be able to?
Because you are only allowed personal freedoms if you express them like every other white conservative and fit a very narrowly defined picture of American culture, ethnicity and gender identity.
I’m beginning to think Trump is just throwing things against the wall to see what sticks.
I’m beginning to think he doesn’t have values of his own and has discovered that he can easily keep dangling simplistic talking points in front of America’s most ignorant and most vulnerable segment of simpletons and morons.
I might take it one step further and say that these aren’t Trump’s ideas. These are fossil fuel industry talking points that get pumped through a rich network of right wing talk radio dorks and Brietbart style news feeds and Joe Rogan guests.
Trump and his ilk are just the guys who can turn a talking point about “nobody is buying electric cars” into a real policy of “nobody is allowed to buy electric cars from over the border”.
It worked for him before-- it might work again. He is still neck to neck with Biden in polling after all.
The probability we’re going to have Trump for a second term is so much higher than anyone realizes and it terrifies me every time some Millennial/GenZ shrugs and says “there’s no way that dude is getting in” with no intention of voting, because I have seen all this before.
Younger folks are just electorally apathetic. This isn’t exclusive to GenZ and Millenials, if you look back on voter records in the '60s and '70s, even the young boomers at the time also did not vote in droves. It is an age thing more than any specific generational traits.
Always has been… 🧑🚀🔫👩🚀
Is the wall you’re referring to the one Mexico paid for?
“It a beautiful wall, a fantastic wall, just look at it, ain’t it the best wall ever built? Didn’t I tell you, ‘promise made, promise kept.’?”
He spitballs everything hoping that one day he might be right about something.
Oooh… I can just imagine the cognitive dissonance over on twitter reaching critical mass.
That’s called FREEDOM and FREE MARKET CAPITALISM!
Don’t forget limited government involvement in personal freedoms.
A man of “freedom of choice” and “free market” I see.
As long as both of those choices refer to his buddies that pay him
Petro-masculinity poster-boy
The car companies have already built the infrastructure for EV’s, this isn’t going to happen.
How very “free market” of him.
Free market, states rights, first amendment… Only when it suits them.
